Yard Project part 2

Hello again.

I’ve already shared the clearing out I did along the side yard. Now for the changes involved when fencing in just a small part of the yard to allow the dogs out to go potty.  Quick and easy to clean up after them, and keeps the big part of the yard free of surprises.

So, knowing we were going to make some changes to our back yard, I actually remembered to get photos thru the process. There’s a birdhouse in the center far right area of our yard, so I took 6 photos from that spot.  Since I didn’t want to take the time to attempt merging the pictures, you will see the 3 that pan the back yard along the rear of the house, then continuing the 3 along the rear of the property.  The best part about this … seeing how things sprung up among all the plants in our yard.  Very Exciting.

March 12th: need to clean up, clear out, and measure for the fenceBack Yard phase 1Back Yard phase 1-2

March 13th: post holes dug and posts waiting to be placed with concreteBack Yard phase 2-1Back Yard phase 2-2

March 17th: fence panels up! Need to create gate opposite rear patio door. End near garage back door is only held into place with stacked bricks. Can’t really decided how far we want to extend this, so this keeps the dogs in without having to commit to anything while keeping our concrete patio all intact.Back Yard phase 3-1

Back Yard phase 3-2We LOVE how colorful the bushes got in such a short time!

Introducing TIM! Jason’s FAVORITE addition to the yard.

DSC03766We were walking thru Lowe’s after getting the fence panels, and Jason saw this sad looking distorted … THING.  He read the tag, and was VERY excited.  He told me “Look, I found something as ugly and twisted as I am … In PLANT form!!”  Now he says weird and twisted, because the ugly is kind of going away as we are truly fascinated with this sprawling tree.

This tree is suppose to spread pretty far, and Jason knew EXACTLY where he wanted it to go.2012-03-08_14-18-19_118

Got straight home from the store, and of course, put RANDY straight to work digging the hole.2012-03-08_14-57-36_341

No better way to relax in the afternoon then to enjoy your new tree and to think of the privacy it will add many years from now, and the fact we will actually STILL be living here to enjoy every single year of it’s growing glory.

The finishing touch . . . 2012-03-09_07-13-30_762

what is this?? you ask.  When we moved in to this house, in among all the overgrown bushes of the back yard, we found this rock thing that looks like a brain.  With Jason having a brain injury, we joked

“Look!! We found DAD’S BRAIN!!”

and we have always kept it close by.  What better place to easily find his brain then with his tree? Smile

Oh yeah, you’re probably wondering why we call the tree Tim.  Well, Jason said it totally looks like something Tim Burton would create. So, I gladly welcomed Tim to our home.
